Sunday night, the Boston Bruins played the Tampa Bay Lightning in the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. In the game, Bruins blueliner, John-Michael Liles suffered a scary incident early on in the first period of play.
It appears although Lightning goalie Ben Bishop attempted to play the puck down the ice, but accidentally tripped up the speeding Liles. Due to the time of the injury, the Bruins were forced to play the majority of the contest with only 5 d-men on the ice.
The B’s were successful in the game, winning by a score of 4-1. Tuukka Rask stopped 30 of the 31 shots that he faced, enough to earn him the first star of the game. Also, Jimmy Hayes finally ended his 36-game goalless streak with the 3rd goal of the game. Following the tally, Hayes showed that he finally took the monkey off of his back.
David Backes also helped out as well.
Tampa Bay managed to win the shots department, 31-30, while the black and gold won the hits, 22-19.
Hopefully, JML makes a speedy recovery, and the injury won’t sideline the Indianapolis native for too long.
