John-Michael Liles has been out of National Hockey League action since November 27th with a concussion. It has taken a month, December 27th, for the 36-year-old defenseman to begin skating with the rest of the team in practice on Tuesday.
The news comes right before the Bruins get ready to face the red-hot Columbus Blue Jackets. A team that just happens to be on a 12 game winning streak.
This will be the third and final meeting between the two Eastern conference teams, with the Bruins taking the first two games 6-3 and 5-2. However, the Blue Jackets have been a different team with now one of the best coaches this season, John Tortorella.
Boston enters Tuesday night with two consecutive wins prior to the Christmas break. A win over Columbus could not only end their impressive winning streak, but it could also give Boston some much-needed momentum to possibly get out of third-place in the Atlantic division. After the Columbus game, the Bruins will swap home-and-home with the Buffalo Sabres.
The lines for Tuesday’s morning practice showed some possibility of Tim Schaller moving up to the second like with David Krejci and David Backes. They also played Ryan Spooner on the same line so it could very well be either man come puck drop. Another thing to note, is that Acciari and Hayes could also swap positions on the fourth-line right wing spot. Here are the official forward rushes and defensive pairs.
Will Boston end the 12-game winning streak of Columbus? Or will John Tortorella lead his team to yet another win? You’ll just have to wait to find out.
