As the Bruins face the Buffalo Sabres for the second time in three days, representatives from the Boston organization has released the verdict on David Backes’ injury that he suffered after a William Carrier hit on Thursday night.
Backes was hit hard after a clear attempt and Carrier clocked David at the end of his release. The hit was directed to the head and Backes laid on the ice for a while before the Bruins trainer had to help him. Bruins d-man Adam McQuaid attempted to fight Carrier for revenge, however, the referees stopped the fight while Carrier was still able to unload on McQuaid. This started a lot of controversy about fighting in the NHL and McQuaid got some payback earlier in today’s game.
Here is the injury update of Backes below.
This is not good news for the Bruins team, but they will have to rebound without Backes heading into the next few games and into 2017.
