UPDATE: Bruins Goalie Leaves Midway Through Game

As the Boston Bruins look to rebound off of a 1-0 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night, they would lace up the skates for a road game against the red-hot Pittsburgh Penguins. The game seemed to be going alright, considering Pittsburgh won their last game 7-1 against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night also.

Now goaltender Tuukka Rask was given the start for the Bruins and was obviously expected to play through the whole game. Rask played the entire first period, stopping all of the 12 shots that faced him. However, it was the second period where things started to go south. Rask allowed two goals on 22 shots before being pulled. The goals came about 9 minutes apart from each other, so it wasn’t a bad performance necessarily that caused the pull. Even if the goals were bad ones, he most likely would have remained in the posts due to making 20 shots. Backup Zane McIntyre replaced the Finnish netminder.

Now the Bruins have yet to release any information on Rask at this point, but Bruins fans should be hoping for good news regarding the situation.

Tuukka has been struggling as of late, but the whole team seems to be in a mid-season slump. Heading into Sunday’s contest, Rask had a .920 save percentage and a GAA of 2.08 with five shutouts.

UPDATE: Seconds after publishing the previous article, the Boston Bruins tweeted the following on Rask.
