After the Bruins finally took an overtime win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night, they will have to hope for the best for 2017 All-Star, Brad Marchand, as he will have a hearing for a “dangerous trip” on Red Wings d-man Niklas Kronwall.
Here is the trip that is causing the hearing.
After watching the clip above, it is obvious that Brad Marchand seemed to intentionally trip Kronwall to the ice. There was no way that Niklas could have avoided it and no fault falls on him.
However, a closer angle on the play, shows that Kronwall seems to jump up after he feels the leg. Does a suspension still take place even if there is embellishment? Should there be? I personally feel like Kronwall is just as much in the wrong as Brad is.
Suspension or no suspension, this is not the time to make a play like that. Boston sits 3rd in the Atlantic division, thanks to the win on Tuesday, but they are only ahead by one point. The Toronto Maple Leafs are on Boston’s behind with Philadelphia and Florida coming close to their 2nd wild card position. To make things even worse for Boston, Toronto has 6 games in hand. Let’s just say that the schedule hasn’t been too kind towards the Bruins so far in the year.
Marchand was a key part to the victory over Detroit. He scored two goals including the tying goal in the third period. Brad Marchand tied David Pastrnak for most goals on the team with 19, until Pastrnak finally broke the 2o goal mark with the overtime winner that went through a review. Pastrnak’s blast can be seen below.
Bruins fans need Marchand to stay on the team and the Bruins need to roll off of this momentum as they head into a game against Pittsburgh tomorrow in TD Garden.
