During a tight contest against the Washington Capitals, the Boston Bruins have a big injury to a key player to the team.
About 3 minutes into the final period of play, the Bruins down 3-2, forward Patrice Bergeron sacrificed his own body for the benefit of the team, yet, it hurts the team at the same time. Due to the Washington power-play, Bergeron felt the need to put his body in front of a point shot by Matt Niskanen. The blocked shot however, hit on the inside of the kneecap, a place with very little protection.
The assistant captain for the black and gold needed help down the tunnel and put little to no weight on that right leg.
At the time of the injury, Bergeron had one assist in the contest, on Brad Marchand’s first goal of the game and his 22nd goal of the season. Patrice has 12-13-25 totals in 50 games so far this season with a +3 rating. Bergeron has stayed solid in his faceoff circle, a 58.8% rating on the dot.
The injury is horrible news for Boston and for Bergeron himself. Bergy has been a huge help to Brad Marchand’s recent offensive success. I personally wish the best for him at this time.
